Should wear do a complete cross ruff and run the risk that we will lose control of the trump suit itself or should we establish one of our suits ? The question here is which suit to establish- the Spades or The Diamonds ?  There is more work in the Diamond suit as you will probably have to ruff Diamonds out 3 times before they can  become established but only twice with the Spades as you have one more top card. The opponents have seven cards in both suits so the suits are more likely to break 4:3 than 5:2

With all this in mind we will win with dummy’s ace and ruff a Diamond merely to get back to hand, to ruff a Spade for the first time. Having ruffed spades once we now need to get back to hand again but this time we can afford to do so with a high trump. Play a trump to the Queen or King and now ruff another spade. We now play two more trumps ending in hand (expecting a 3:1 break) with the remaining top trump to play off our established Spade, We have collected. 5 Natural trumps from dummy (the long hand) 1 Diamond 2 Spades and 2 established spades and 2 spades ruffed in the short hand.
