If you blindly go at this hand like a bull in a china shop you will go one off. Initially there are only 12 tricks  5 spades, 1 Heart. 1 Diamond and 5 Clubs. Therefore where is the 13th trick going to come from ?

Firslty in order to make this contract we are going to have to pray for a lucky layout of the opponents cards and assume trumps to be 3;2 and that the Hearts break favourably. If neither of these factors occurs then we have no chance. We will also need sufficient entries to get back to dummy.

Bearing all  this in mind, we win the first trick and set about making the Hearts good. We immediately ruff and Heart then go to dummy with a trump and ruff another Heart. Now that the Hearts have broken kindly (3:3) we proceed to draw trumps finishing in dummy. When the trumps break too we can now claim 5 trumps, 1 Heart, 3 established Hearts, 1 Diamond and 5 clubs (now that’s 2 overtricks  isn’t it J  ? )
