The opponents lead a spade to the Ace and then switch to a small club plan your play
Counting your tricks you have 2 Clubs, 1 Diamond and 1 Heart . The Spade lead gives you three further spade tricks. Therefore you will need to get the Diamonds established. However there are plenty of blocking problems on this hand in three suits.
In order to guarantee this contract you will have to jettison your ¨A before it gives you grief.
On the first round of Spades make your first unblocking play and chuck your King under East’s Ace. After winning the club, play a second round of Spades and when you see that it is no worse than 52 in opposition’s hand you can now afford to play a third round of Spade chucking the blocking Diamond Ace. You are still in dummy and can now play the top Diamond. All the opposition can do is take their King and maybe cash 1 winning Spade.
You are now home winning 3 Spades, 1 Heart, 4 Diamonds and only 1 Club unless the opposition gives you one more trick in the wash with another club or Heart..
