Initially you have 5 tricks three Aces and 2 Kings. When
the winners is on the low side why not count losers instead (which you should be
doing automatically any way J). So
here we have a possible Spade loser, 2 Heart losers, hopefully no more than 1
Diamond loser and 1 club loser. 5 Losers UGH For us to have only 1 Diamond loser we will need either
the Diamonds to be 2:2 or if the Diamonds are 3:1 then the singleton must be
either the King or the Queen. Now there is nowhere to dump the Black suit losers
so our only hope will have to be from an elimination and endplay. With all this in mind you ruff the third round of Hearts
and immediately play Ace and another Diamond, pleased to see them fall evenly.
West now gets off lead with a Club giving nothing away. Now you resort to your endplay and play two more clubs.
Whoever wins will now have to play a Spade or give you a ruff and discard. East
wins the third Club and now plays a Spade. You draw a deep breath as you play
low from hand hoping that West has the missing Queen. The bridge gods are with
you and your Jack in dummy wins the trick. You have made. 4 trumps, 3 Spades and 2 Clubs and you
have brought home this precarious contract.
