THE AVOIDIST

I have been doing supervised play for nearly 40 years now and one of my pet hates is when my students tell me about their hand being strong because of the Void or Singleton and I want to just SCREAM. I am not a Racist but I am a certified AVOIDIST and proud of it.

When we discuss hands I want my students to tell me that their hand is strong because of the five, six and seven card suits. If you are very distributional then of course you will have voids and singletons but quite frankly they aren't that important (Sure they are important when you have a fit with partner in a suit)

On the above hand I want my students to tell me that the strength of this hand is the two long suits.
