The opponents lead ©2. Plan your play, assuming trumps are 4:0 and the Diamonds break no worse than 4:1
If you ruff the first trick without thinking then the hand is all over and you are going to go down.
With the Heart lead you can exchange one loser for another (loser on loser play) at trick one by discarding a Club. By doing this you keep all the trumps on table just in case the trumps break very badly.
You now win the Heart return and play your trump Queen discovering the bad news. You play just one round of Diamonds to the Ace relieved to see West follow. You can now ruff one Diamond high before entering dummy with the trump 9 so you can ruff another low Diamond high. Now it’s a matter of drawing the last two trumps ending up in dummy to cash the second winning Diamond and all the established Diamonds.
You have made 4 natural trumps, 1 Heart, 2 Diamonds, 2 Diamonds (ruffed high) and 2 established Diamonds and 1 club.
