In a recent match between Bermuda and Trinidad, Vera Petty for Bermuda    found the only defence to defeat 5¨, She continued with a second spade. Declarer tried drawing trumps but then  Petty ducked two rounds and won the third and now played a club. Poor declarer could not now enjoy all the clubs in dummy. Declarer now went three down. The lesson of this hand is that when you have long trumps, try forcing declarer as early as possible, and secondly, don’t give up control of the trump suit by taking your trump Ace too early.
