To make this contract, your best line would be to set up dummy’s Diamond suit and to make allowances that the Diamonds might be breaking badly you will need to have three entries back to the dummy, ie the ªA, ©A, ¨A and the §K. Win the first trick in hand and immediately draw trumps in three rounds. Now set up the Diamonds accessing dummy to the carefully preserved ¨A. Now that the diamonds break 32 you have no further problems as you can muster, 1 Spade, 4 Hearts, 2 Diamonds, 1 Diamond ruffed, 3 Established Diamonds and 3 clubs (totaling 14 tricks.) Had the Diamonds broken 41 you would still have been OK as you have sufficient entries to establish the suit provided you have not squandered all those lovely Aces and the King early on in the play.
