After the bidding you know that, firstly, East must have at least 5 cards for his overcall, and secondly, he must not be allowed to enjoy them. The whole hand boils down to how one plays the Diamonds. In order to bring home this contract declarer has 1 Spade, 2 Hearts 2 Diamonds and 3 Clubs in the bag. He therefore only needs one Diamond, more to the point he can afford a Diamond loser and still be ok.
To sever communications between the 2 defenders declarer ducks the first trick and takes the second trick. He now safely enters dummy with either the Heart Ace or Club Ace in order to finesse the Diamond through East. If the diamond finesse loses, which it does, West, the safe hand can do him no harm. After winning the ¨Q declarer will be able to win any return and eventually claim 1 Spade, 2 Hearts, 4 Diamonds ands 3 clubs.
